Although it is important to have in mind the things that are currently causing you worry or stress in your life right now, it is also important to think about how some of these problems may have started in the first place.

These may be things that have happened early in your life, and have since shaped your view of yourself, other people or the world around you.  These may have also been pretty large scale events that caused an episode of depression or that have been associated with a lapse to drinking or using drugs.

Just take a moment now to think about what sorts of events or past experiences in your own life might be associated with your current situation and current problems.
