You have probably had plenty of cravings for alcohol, cannabis or speed, as well as pretty strong urges to drink or use. Urges and cravings will increase in these first stages of cutting down or stopping your use.
Cravings are best described as wishing or longing to have a drink, a smoke or a hit, or feeling the need to seek out and use alcohol/other drugs.
The last few sessions have hopefully taught you a little bit about those thoughts that lead to you wanting have a drink or wanting to use. But cravings have other parts to them too - that are not just thoughts - and it is important to learn ways to deal with each of these other parts too.
